HOW TO APPLY WINGED LINER & LASHES

PRO TIPS

1. Applying your liner BEFORE your lashes will help hide any gaps between your natural lash and false lash.

2. Remember to complete each step on both eyes before moving on. This will ensure your eyeliner is even. It is much harder to duplicate a finished eye than it is to take it step by step.

3. Apply your foundation AFTER you complete your eye makeup. This will allow you to easily clean up any mistakes without removing your base. This is especially true if you are using shadows that may fall under the eyes during application.

4. Practice, practice, practice! DO NOT try a new makeup look for the first time on the same day you plan to wear it. Practicing will allow you to try different application techniques, such as holding your applicator/brushes at different angles.

5. When you are finished, take a selfie in front of a window so you can see how it will translate on camera. For stage makeup you will want to go bold so the people in the back can see all your hard work.

WINGED EYELINER

1. Apply neutral or light eyeshadow from your lash line up to your crease

-Dip your brush into a neutral, nude, or light eyeshadow, then brush it across your lid, working from your lash line to the crease.

– The eyeshadow will prime your lid and allow for a smoother application of eyeliner and give the it something to cling to, so the liner will stay put and won’t smudge or rub off.

2. Angle a brush from your nose to your outer brow to find your end point

– Hold a slim object, like a pencil, against the side of your nose and angle it until it points to the end of your eyebrow. This is the line you want your wing to follow.

– If your eyelids are hooded, make the angle less upward and more horizontally straight. This will extend your lash line and open up your eyes.

3. Use eyeliner to make a dot just above your crease to mark the tip of your wing

– The higher you make your dot, the thicker and more dramatic your cat eye will be.

– Make sure the dots are at the same angle and height on both eyes before moving on. It’s much easier to erase a dot and move it than to erase an entire wing.

4. Draw a line connecting the dot to the outer corner of your eye

– DO NOT pull on your skin while drawing the wing. When you release the skin, your wing will change shape.

– To help you see what you’re doing as you create your cat eyes, tilt your head back slightly and lower your gaze so you can see your lash line.

5. Draw a line connecting the dot to the middle of your upper lash line

– Gently apply your eyeliner from the outer corner of your eye to the middle of your lid.

6. Fill in the outline you have made, if necessary

– Depending on how you angled your initial lines, and how thick you drew them, you may or may not need to fill the outline in.

– If you drew your top line right at your lash line, then you may not need to add any filler.

7. Draw a THIN line to connect the inner corner of your eye with your cat eye

– Position your eyeliner at the inner corner of your eye, then slowly pull the liner toward the cat eye.

8. Clean up any mistakes

– A pointed cotton swap will allow you to get into corners and clean along lines without accidentally smudging the eyeliner.

– You can also dip the cotton swab in a little toner or makeup remover if needed.

APPLYING FALSE LASHES

1. Prep your natural lashes

– Ensure your lashes are mascara free.

– If you have straight lashes, use a lash curler before applying your false lashes.

2. Prep your false lashes

– Using a lash applicator, or tweezers, measure the false lash by placing it against your lid

– Trim just a little at a time to ensure they fit your eye.

– Your eyes may not be the same size so be sure to do this for each eye.

3. Apply glue to the false eyelash

– Try not to use too much OR too little.

– Wait 5-30 seconds for the glue to dry slightly. This is the key to success. If the glue is not tacky the lash will slide around your lid.

4. Adhere the strip to your lash line and gently press it into place.

– Holding a hand held mirror just below your chin, LOOK DOWN into the mirror when applying the lash to your eyelid.

5. Once the glue is DRY apply black eyeliner to hide the lash strip
– This can help hide any “imperfections” in your application.

6. Finish with mascara.
– Apply a layer of mascara to your bottom lashes.
– Gently sweep a light layer across your top lashes to blend your natural and false lashes together.
